Therapy Thoughts - Setting Boundaries
Boundaries are an important topic to discuss leading into the holiday season. Boundaries can be difficult to identify and implement.
Some signs boundaries may be too porous include feeling resentment, feeling stretched too thin, feeling that others problems are yours to solve, feeling that others emotions are yours to change, dishonesty about how you feel to avoid a conflict, and difficulty saying no or avoiding it altogether.
Signs boundaries are too rigid include lack of flexibility, difficulty being open with others, and feeling lonely due to lack of interpersonal closeness. If any of this resonates, take a moment and reflect on your boundaries and what may need to be adjusted. If you're having trouble making these adjustments, consider starting therapy.
